Slavery expert Kevin Bales estimates 27 million slaves exist in the world today. The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) estimates 1.2 million children join them each year. Local nonprofits estimate 3000 people are trafficked into Australia and 18,000 people are enslaved in the USA annually.
Human trafficking and slavery is a $32 billion dollar business. It is the second most lucrative crime in the world after the drug trade.
- Most people think slavery is a historical problem. It’s not. It’s rapidly growing.
- Most people don’t know about the extent of trafficking ‘normal’ neighbourhoods.
- Most people don’t know how to help children from being trafficked.
- Most people don’t know survivors should lead the movement – but need support to do so.
We are changing that using creativity, education and inspirational communication.
